We finally have two projects up, as well as new animal pages and photos scattered about. The site is getting tweaked at least once a week right now and hopefully that will continue.
Check it out! That's an order!

The Sarah Connor Charm School

The projects can be found under Student, etc bios link. There are also new pictures on Cirriculum.

And, of course, we're always looking for more women to add their profiles!

Just note that the website has been perked up a bit over the past couple of days. I'm still hoping for more grads and students to offer photos, stories, ideas and links. If you have anything the address is sjc_wolf at yahoo.com.

So right now it's still really sparse. I've also considered moving it but haven't found anything better yet. It would have to be quite a bit better to bother. I have waffled about paying for hosting and getting a domain name, but really feel that money could be better spent elsewhere. Although sometimes when I'm getting all those damn ads and it's taking forever to load, I come close to changing my mind.

Oh, also, of course, feel free to link to it!

I don't remember him responding "oh, there were hardly any around at all."

From CHUD.COM:

"Terminator 4 is going to be the most male-centric of all the Terminator films, but there is a butt busting female character by the name of Blair, a pilot for the human resistance."

Fucking great. Because, honestly, I can't say that the first two movies were REALLY female-centric, even if the main character was a an ass kicking woman. She was just one. But as what sounds like a token character...a bone thrown to the Sarah Connor fans.....nooooo. Doesn't work.

This is a movie that has the opportunity to show a LOT of strong female roles. It's so fucking given to us by Reese's response to Sarah's question ....not what she wanted to know then, but what WE want to know NOW.

"Good fighters."

I'm reposting, with some editing, this from Terminator Files forum where it just deteriorated into an argument about my feelings about That TV Show (despite the fact I've said the same things in their SCC section). So...

Okay, I've had a certain *eh* attitude about T4, mostly because in T3, which I hate and which screwed things up a lot, they killed off Sarah AND Kate Brewster, at least as she was written and played in T3, did NOT win me over.

I think that the fan base created by the actual role of Sarah Connor... strong, smart, vicious and capable...in other words US... has been totally forgotten. Still we were sizable when it came to ticket and video sales, despite the "boys' movie" stereotype. We have CERTAINLY been forgotten, as far as the characteristics listed above go, by the makers of That TV Show...hence the major theme of these fora at this point.

But will we be forgotten in the new trilogy? Or WILL there be strong and smart female, and NOT MARGINALIZED, female roles here.

And yes, they really have to do Kate Brewster, if they keep with the T3 which I assume they are and therefore will have her, thing a lot better...both writing and acting wise...to make that so. But there must be more.

I'm certainly not seeing any hope for this in anything I've come across. But, I thought I'd throw it out there. What do folks here think? Has anyone heard anything about female (HUMAN) characters at ALL? Who would YOU like to see for women in this?

Finally got around to putting up the Sarah Connor Charm School Website, but except for the same info as on this community and links to this community and our MySpace and FaceBook groups (yes, we're there too for what it's worth) there isn't any content. I am hoping to eventually get some graduate photos despite the current distaste due to That TV Show. Come on graduates, SHOW YOUR MUSCLE!

I actually hadn't thought of this regarding the writer's strike, but it appears that it will seriously mess up That TV Show past the fourth episode (which apparently is the fifth if you count the pilot). While 8 have been written, not all have been filmed and they're filmed out of sequence...with number 5 not shot. While the whole things sucks for those involved, if this kills The Sarah Connor Chronicles then it least there will be one happy outcome. Please let it be so.

Also, anyone want to talk to one of the writers? He seems to think their ideas are good. I'm now on the forum there, but I'm a bit too bitchy to be reasonable about it tonight and I'm looking at not much sleep for several days.

Okay, so she says she likes her. Then again, it wouldn't be very professional if she didn't, eh? For me, that changes nothing. I don't have to be professional, I'm not "in the biz" I'm a fan. BTW, it's waaaaay at the bottom here: http://www.terminatorfiles.com/news/2007/2007-10-27-a.htm

Yeah, so I was going to go looking for some mention of how Linda Hamilton trained for the role, but I couldn't find the hard copy article I was thinking of. But I did find several articles on Hamilton's fan site which included mentions. This is one from Starburst magazines from 91. There were several others but I didn't want to list them all.

Yeah, there's a lot of the "needed to soften it after" stuff (recent photos show she never did THAT much anyway), but this is AFTER the filming. I think that there are places here that show the dedication, however.

Not only did she train to get fit and muscular, she spent a lot of time training with Uzi Gal (not the weapons designer, but supposedly a former Israeli commando all the same)who apparently drove her hard to learn weapons and military concepts. This wasn't standing in "the scary booth."

"I was so burnt out so many times, only getting four hours sleep a night. But I discovered major things about myself and it was great to come through that learning experience. I dreaded the military training, in fact, I hated it. It was vicious stuff learning to load clips, change mags and verify targets. All emotion had to disappear. That's what combat training is about. You can't let your gun jam due to a temper tantrum! I can't tell you the life lessons I learned from being put into that military mindset. It's given me great serenity and I now pray a lot more."

It is among the places which indicate that Hamilton was no more prepared before the role to play this role, but she GOT prepared. Even if she didn't always like it. And she FELT the transformation. At least for the time that she portrayed Sarah.

There is no way that anyone could train as hard as she did consistently through what she would hope is more than one season of a TV series. But going through such training BEFORE would be an idea.

I also found the above piece interesting when she mentions she herself not watching the first movie until part way through and when she did hating how Sarah appeared in that. "'Tl's Sarah is quite bland compared to 'T2's." Now the "new Sarah Connor" is basing her role on only having seen the FIRST movie. *headdesk*

I was going to wait until I could be home and dig up some of the articles on what Linda Hamilton did to train for the role of Sarah Connor in T2 but I just had to share this now.

In an article in CanMag Headey first blathers on more about how she is stepping into the role that she tries to sound at least she believes she can fulfill, all pretty much the same shit as before except she's apparently finally watched the first movie so she fully understands the character. *rollseyes* They then note that to prepare she fired a gun for the first time and she says:

"I did a bit of gun, whatever it's called when you go in the scary booth with everyone. It's all right. There's a strange, I don't know, a strange feeling surrounding guns. I grew up in a country where they're not around but it's part of her, so."

I'm nearly sick it's just so damn FUNNY! I think I hurt myself laughing. This is a JOKE, right?! I mean this cannot be meant to make us believe she's good for this role!

For the record, I will note that it IS damn intimidating to fire a gun for the first time. About the third shot, however, I certainly found something change in me. Not the third time out shooting, but the third shot. If that doesn't happen for an actress considering a role such as this, then she probably isn't the right person for the fucking role.

In an accompaning story Dekker says of the way John Connor had been played before and how he's playing it:

"So I tried to keep the character that I knew from the films, sort of lionhearted, wild, kind of doesn't think before he speaks but he's in a very different place in our show than he is in the films."

Uh, that's certainly NOT how he was playing the role. He did play the role much as it was in T3 ..pathetic, whiny loser. No lionheart, no wild child...whiner. "Mommy, you take care of it, I can't." *headdesk*

These people are NOT winning any points, they're making themselves out to be jokes.

I just figured I'd share this video with those of you who can watch it. I managed, but it was in bits and pieces while I was doing other things...these things do not load fast with dial-up. It did NOT endear me to these two. At all. Maybe it will others, though. Uh, and is Dekker trying to do some badboy rockstar look or something. Somehow the carefully arranged hair just makes it funnier than it would otherwise be. http://www.movieweb.com/tv/news/08/21508.php

I had found the link to the above on AfterEllen which has a lot of chatter spread throughout it on the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Sadly, most of the women there seem quite excited about it with only a few grumblings about lack of muscle and I think only one who has out right said Headey's casting doesn't work for her at all.

Of course, Headey has a lesbian and bi women following due to her role in Imagine Me and You. I have wondered if this played a part in her getting cast. Maybe they were looking to court the lesbian following that Hamilton's Sarah Connor had, after all, despite the fact that they cast a woman totally the opposite of what has attracted so many to Hamilton's Sarah. The problem is, while some might be okay with this casting as shown by so many on AfterEllen, there are others who just don't do romantic comedies no matter the mixture. Action movies and romantic comedies might both be enjoyed by some people, but not all.

It also is rather ironic that they might indeed be courting lesbians, given the big brouhaha from Dekker's publicity camp to make sure everyone knew his Heroes character was not gay. Something that, really, shouldn't matter when it comes to THIS role. I guess they aren't worried about alienating the gay male viewers. Er, or the young female population who are so into writing gay male slash fic, which may make up the largest portion of viewers for any show featuring young men if the internet is any indication. They may shout against the actor ever having played a gay character all they want, they may shout about John being straight all they want, I'd put money on the fact that some young woman has already written slash about him and some character from one of the many shows that have already gotten such treatment. (I should note that I am not advocating the slashing of minor characters, not even those played by adults)

Not Sarah Connor or SCC related but, regarding lesbian and bi women, whether actresses look like they are starving or not and the Terminator franchise stuff (although most of us like to forget about T3) I hear that Painkiller Jane got canceled. It was a show I hated to hate, because of the strong female character and an openly bisexual star who was bucking the trend and had put on some healthy weight (and was getting slammed for it) since some of her earlier work (and her modeling days). The writing was just so painful that it was unwatchable. Here's hoping that Loken gets some good, WELL WRITTEN, action roles in the future and continues to keep healthy and looking as wonderful as she now does.

And please, let's put an end to this damn thin trend all together! Women can be strong and we do have the right to take up space!
